JUNE 2018 Every day is a buzz here at The Hive Nurturing the Creative Self at Spinnaker's Landing in Summerside! As the sun streams in the windows of the shop, you can feel the ocean's breath through the screen door. Excitement for the summer season is in the air...the buildings are being painted, Alan Doyle is on the radio and the tour buses are making their way across the Confederation bridge filled with people looking for lobster and some PEI treasures to take home. And I couldn't be happier! Sitting here at 150 Heather Moyse Drive, I liken Spinnaker's Landing as PEI's very own "Disney"... without the Disney budget of course! What a better way to spend your day if you can't be painting yourself, surrounded by the beautiful creations of PEI artisans. In the last month, our number of artisans has increased from seven to twenty five! There is a beautiful selection of hand crafted items which include; Furniture Adult Clothing Knitted Items Quilts & Quilted Items Wooden Spoons Leather Purses Pottery Jewellery Candles Linen Wooden Signs Fabric Purses & Wallets Aroma-Therapy Bags Goat Soap Throw Cushions Children's Clothing Local Authors ...and so much more!
JULY 15 2018 Salutations Island goers! Spinnaker's Landing continues to be abuzz with activity including live music and games being offered centre stage at the landing! Yesterday, I watched the "Cardboard Boat Races" in the basin of the landing. Boats and paddles, made only of cardboard and tape, were navigated skillfully by vested captains before they became saturated and sunk - much to the delight of Summerside on-lookers. Meanwhile, out my back screen door the masts of the sailboats silently sneak past to open waters while the majestic (100'!) vessels are being navigated into docking slips. Every day, inside The Hive, artisans arrive with their treasures. Our capacity is about full as we boast near 40 artisans! So, if you are just looking for a wonderful shopping experience by the water - or looking for that unique gift - come on in to The Hive Nurturing the Creative Self on the boardwalk in Summerside! Support local artisans.
September 29th, 2018 Thanks to all the artisans and customers who supported The Hive Nurturing the Creative Self at the Spinnaker's Landing location this summer! We will be shutting the doors and battening down the "hatches" for the upcoming PEI winter season with the intention of returning to Spinnaker's in June of 2019! For inquiries please do not hesitate to contact us either on this website or on Facebook Thanks Kim and Hannah
March 1, 2019 Well have you heard the buzz? The Hive Nurturing the Creative Self will be opening at its new location at 216 Water Street in Summerside! This location offers us the opportunity to be open year-round and provides the space and facilities to do workshops. We are calling this a "soft opening" as our stock is limited at this time but I will be able to paint on site! We are also presently building our consignee group in hopes of providing variety and selection in both sales items and potential workshops.
OPENING MARCH 9th 2019
March 30th 2019 This is NO April fools! We have been "open" for 3 weeks and things have really been buzzing at The Hive Nurturing the Creative Self. I have welcomed "old" artisans back, had the opportunity to meet with "new" artisans and have negotiated space to do painting workshops! There is a selection of quilts (hand and long-arm), fabric fat quarters (20"X20" Canadian), candles, goat soap, lip balms, t-shirts, women's custom shirts, knit hats, felted hats, felted slippers, jewellery, hand woven towels, scrubbies, cards, original artwork, essential oil bags, exotic wood products, furniture and so much more. Of course, I have Country Chic paint, Muddarittaville stencils, "furniture jewellery" (knobs) and know-how to get your painting projects done. So no fool's...we are ready to add some buzz to your life (ugh) :) Mama Bee
